While providing a residential concrete driveway is relatively straight forward, there are many aspects of design and construction that require skill and experience in order to produce an acceptable finished product.
Driveways may be subjected to excessive loads that can result in cracking. It is important to keep vehicles off a new concrete driveway for at least a week, ideally 2 to 3 weeks.
A grade/fall should be built into driveways, paths and patios to prevent rainfall puddling on the surface. If fall isn't possible, drains and can be installed to control and direct water.
Concrete takes approximately one month to achieve maximum strength; it will take longer in cold weather.
Despite adopting good design and construction practices, such as control joints and reinforcing steel/mesh to minimize the risk of cracking, there may be situations where cracks still occur as a result of movement in concrete due to changes in its moisture content and temperature.

Exposed/washed aggregates are achieved by washing away the top layer of concrete to leave the surface layer of aggregate exposed. As the raw materials are sourced locally, each slab will be unique.
Sealing exposed aggregate concrete enhances the colour and makes it easier to clean.
